It appears the deputy failed to stop for a red light, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

PINELLAS COUNTY – Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a late night deputy-involved traffic crash in Dunedin.

Deputy Tyler Green was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said. No one else was injured.

The crash happened about 11:21 p.m. Sunday (Sept. 4). Green was driving east on Main Street in a 2015 marked Chevrolet Tahoe and failed to yield to a red traffic light at the Belcher Road intersection, investigators said. Green collided with a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser being driven by Karen Garland, 31, of Clearwater, who was making a left turn with a green arrow. Neither alcohol nor drugs were a factor in the crash, deputies said.
