The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet, Pinellas sheriff’s deputies said.

GULFPORT – A St. Petersburg woman died Thursday (Sept. 29) from injuries she received in a crash with an SUV, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

Armaletha M. Wesley, 24, died from her injuries while en route to a hospital. Deputies said she was not wearing a helmet. The other driver was not injured.

The crash happened about 8:15 p.m. at the intersection of 49th Street S and Jersey Avenue. Ms. Wesley was driving her 2015 Leike motorcycle south in the median on 49th Street when she collided with Ronald Hillman, 51, of Gulfport, who was driving his 2006 Chevrolet TrailBlazer east on Jersey.  Deputies said he made a turn to go north on 49th and pulled out in front of Ms. Wesley. Deputies, who are investigating the crash, say neither alcohol nor speed appeared to be a factor.
