Kenneth City Crash Kills Pedestrian

The man was not in a crosswalk at the time of the crash, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

KENNETH CITY – A pedestrian died from injuries he received when hit by an SUV while in a Kenneth City roadway Saturday (Oct. 8), according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

The 62-year-old man’s name is being withheld until next of kin are notified. Deputies said he was taken to St. Petersburg General Hospital where he was probounced dead.

Felix Nematbakhsh, 21, was driving his 2016 Toyota 4 Runner SUV north on 66th Street just north of 46th Avenue N about 10:45 p.m. when the man stepped off the sidewalk into the roadway. Deputies said Nematbakhsh was unable to stop his SUV before hitting the man, who was not in a designated crosswalk.

Nematbakhsh provided deputies with a voluntary blood draw, deputies said. Neither speed nor driver impairment by alcohol and/or drug impairment is suspected, deputies said.

Witnesses told deputies the pedestrian had been seen drinking alcohol at two local businesses before the crash. Deputies said alcohol and/or drug impairment is suspected.
