Husband, Wife Dead in Murder-Suicide, Pinellas Deputies Say

An elderly man and his wife are dead after a shooting in unincorporated Tarpon Springs, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

PINELLAS COUNTY – An elderly man and his wife are dead after what appears to have been a murder-suicide, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

Robert W. Kamp, 92, was found dead in his home, 2550 Richards Road, Tarpon Springs, on Friday (Oct. 28). His wife, Edith A. Kamp, 86, died at Regional Medical
Center Bayonet Point where she was taken after she was found.

Deputies said they were called to the home about 10:30 a.m. by a family member who found the couple. Detectives said that Mrs. Kamp, was found in her bedroom with a gunshot wound to her head. Her husband was found in the bathroom with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head. Deputies believe Mr. Kamp shot his wife, and then took his own life. A suicide note was found inside the home. Both Kamps had been suffering from long term medical illnesses and were being cared for by family and friends.
