Driver Injured after Colliding with Cement Truck in Seminole

She is listed in critical condition, the Pinellas County Sheriff said.

SEMINOLE – A Palm Harbor woman is in serious condition after she rear-ended a cement truck Thursday (Jan. 5), according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

Marion D. Barner, 93, of Palm Harbor was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg in critical condition. Jose Melendez, 41, of Clearwater, the cement truck driver, was not injured.

The crash happened about 1:10 p.m. near the intersection of Seminole Boulevard and 102nd Avenue N in Seminole. Deputies said Melendez was stopped in traffic on Seminole Boulevard in a 2005 Oshkosh cement truck. Barner was driving her 2003 Toyota Camry southbound on Seminole Boulevard. The Toyota failed to stop and collided with the rear of the Oshkosh.

Witnesses on scene pulled Barner from the Toyota and called 911, deputies said. Seminole Fire Rescue and Sunstar Paramedics took her to Bayfront. Deputies said alcohol and/or drug impairment were not factors in the crash.
