He used his phone to record a student who was changing her shirt for a classroom photo, the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office said.

HUDSON – A Fivay High School teacher has been arrested in connection with the video recording of a student who was changing her shirt, the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office said.

Thomas John Kovack, 38, of Palm Harbor, was charged with one count of video voyeurism.

Deputies said that preliminary information indicates that Kovac put a phone to record video in a closet in his classroom where he knew a 17-year-old female student was changing her shirt for a class photo.

The student noticed the phone and saw a video of her teacher placing the phone in the closet and also herself in the video undressing. She deleted the video and then reported what she found.

Kovack later admitted to placing the phone in the closet, deputies said.
