She was also accused of not reporting her live-in boyfriend’s physical abuse of her daughter, Hillsborough deputies said. She is the second person to be arrested in connection with the case.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A mother has been accused of neglecting her 4-year-old daughter, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.

Amber Lee Jones, 28, of Tampa, was charged with one count each of Child Neglect with Great Bodily Harm and Failure to Report Child Abuse. Both are felonies.

Jones is the second person to be arrested in connection with the abuse of her 4-year-old daughter. Jones’ live-in boyfriend, Allen Michael Stanford, 28,  was charged earlier this week with three counts of Child Abuse with Great Bodily Harm and one count of Child Neglect with Great Bodily Harm. Stanford is not the child’s father. (Click here for earlier story.)

Deputies said the couple took the child to the Brandon Regional Hospital Emergency for treatment of significant and visible injuries to her entire body. They claimed the wounds were self-inflicted.

An investigation by HCSO detectives determined the injuries were consistent with a pattern of physical abuse over time. Deputies said the child’s injuries are non-life threatening.

The child protective investigations division removed the child from the home and she remains in protective custody.
