Middle School Teacher Accused of Molesting Two Students

The incidents happened at Benito Middle School where he was a teacher, the Tampa Police Department said.

TAMPA – A Benito Middle School teacher has been arrested and accused of molesting two students, the Tampa Police Department said.

Alex Jeffrey Hull, 31, of Plant City, has been accused of multiple crimes. In regards to the first victim, police said Hull is charged with  two counts of sexual battery, four counts of lewd and lascivious molestation, two counts of lewd or lascivious conduct, and two counts of showing obscene materials to a minor. The charges involving victim number two are three counts of sexual battery and one count each of lewd and lascivious molestation, lewd or lascivious conduct, and showing obscene materials to a minor.

According to the school’s website, Hull was an eighth grade algebra teacher. Also according to the site, “Mr. Hull is an artist and incorporates his love for art into his teaching practice. Mr. Hull loves technology and uses it daily in his classroom. Mr. Hull helped pioneer our tardy policy at Benito and was able to reduce the number of 8th grade tardies by nearly 80 percent.”

Tampa police said the incidents happened between November and May at Benito where he taught and the victims were students. The crimes, officers said, came to light when a parent of one of the victims came forward to report this incident to authorities.

Though there is no evidence at this time of other victims, officers are urging parents and/or students who have knowledge about other possible victims to call Tampa Police at (813) 231-6130.
