Man Stole Car, Fled from Officers, Tampa Police Say

He was arrested after a manhunt that took more than two hours, the Tampa Police Department said.

TAMPA – Officers arrested a man this morning (July 13) who was spotted in a stolen car and fled from police in the vehicle and on foot, according to the Tampa Police Department.

Police said the man is suspected of firing at officers during a manhunt that took more than two hours, but officers have not confirmed the shooting. No officers were hurt and they did not fire their weapons.

Andre Antonio Parker, 26, of Ruskin, was charged with one count each of fleeing to elude high speed, driving while license was suspended or revoked – habitual offender, leaving the scene of a crash with injury, resisting an officer without violence, grand theft motor vehicle, and armed burglary of conveyance.

About 9:41 p.m.Thursday (July 12), Tampa police spotted a 2017 silver Ford Mustang with a black convertible top near N 30th Street and E Osborne Avenue that matched the description of a car taken in an armed
carjacking Sunday (July 8)  at Club Hush. Upon seeing the officers the car fled.

Officers began a pursuit that ended shortly after the Ford crashed into a fence at N 50th Street just north of Hillsborough Avenue.

The suspect fled on foot. Tampa police searched on foot with air service helping from above. HIllsborough sheriff’s deputies also helped.

After more than two hours, Parker was found east of the car crash. K9 Xavier grabbed him by the left ankle. Parker was arrested about 12:30 a.m. and taken to the hospital to have his left ankle treated.
