Man Shot, Killed Co-worker, Pinellas Sheriff Says

PINELLAS COUNTY – A Largo man has been charged with murder after he shot and killed a co-worker on Tuesday (Jan. 17), the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

Gregory M. Perry, 51, of Kissimmee, died at Mease Countryside Hospital where he was taken after the shooting, deputies said.

Clifton Lamont Moody, 41, of  3703 141st Ave. N, Apt. A, Largo, was charged with one count each of second-degree murder and violation of probation.

The shooting happened about 1:10 p.m. in front of Lot 1204 at the Southern Comfort Mobile Home Park, 24479 U.S. 19 N, in the unincorporated Clearwater area. When deputies arrived, they said they found Mr. Perry lying in the roadway in front of lot 1204, with a gunshot wound to his torso. Deputies said they performed CPR until paramedics arrived.

Witnesses told deputies that Moody, shot Mr. Perry with a handgun and left the scene on foot. Deputies said they found Moody trying to leave the mobile home park on the west side near U.S. 19.

Mr. Perry and Moody were co-workers at the Labor Ready temporary employment agency in Largo. On Tuesday, they were assigned with two other workers to help with maintenance at the Southern Comfort Mobile Home Park.

Deputies said witnesses told them that Mr/ Perry was arguing with Moody throughout the day. Mr. Perry was upset because Moody showed up to the work site intoxicated and Mr. Perry felt that Moody was not working hard enough. During one of the arguments, deputies said, Moody took out a handgun and shot Mr. Perry.
