He did not take the child for medical care until the day after she was injured, according to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.

PASCO COUNTY – A Dade City admitted he poured scalding water on a 2-year-old girl, the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office said.

Jonathan Lee Howard, 26, of Dade City, has been charged with one count of child neglect.

Deputies said he had custodial supervision of the toddler who suffered second-degree burns on her scalp, torso, arm, vagina, buttocks and leg. She was airlifted to a local hospital where medical staff said the wound pattern was consistent with a scalding hot liquid.

Howsrd first claimed the toddler might have been burned by a lighter that exploded while he was sleeping. Deputies said he later admitted to pouring hot water on her. He also neglected to take the baby for medical care until Sunday (Sept. 24), the day after she was hurt.
