Man Broke into Holocaust Museum, St. Pete Police Say

ST. PETERSBURG – Police here have accused a man of breaking into the Florida Holocaust Museum.

Christopher Michael Venegas, 23, of 13572 Feather Sound Circle W, No. 1901, Clearwater, was charged with one count of burglary to an unoccupied structure, a felony, according to St. Petersburg police and Pinellas County Jail records.

Police said they received an alarm at 3:04 this morning (Oct. 30) from the museum, 55 Fifth St. S. When officers arrived a few minutes later, officers said, they detained and arrested Venegas.

Police said surveillance footage showed Venegas kick and break an electronic keypad and call box at the northern door so he could enter the museum. Venegas was inside the museum for several minutes, however nothing else was damaged and nothing was discovered missing.
