Man Accused of Recording Woman Using Restaurant Restroom

He used his cell phone to record her, the PInellas County Sheriff’s Office said. Deputies said there are likely more victims.

ST. PETE BEACH – A restaurant employee has been accused of using his cell phone to record a woman while she used the restroom, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

Bryan Lara, 18, of St. Petersburg, was charged with one count of video voyeurism. Deputies said he was cooperative with them and admitted recording the victim. He allowed deputies to search his phone and told deputies there were more of the same type of videos. Deputies took the cell phone as evidence.

Deputies said they were called to Beverly’s Restaurant, 7401 Gulf Blvd., St. Pete Beach, after receiving a report that a man was using his cell phone to record women who were using the restroom.

Deputies said the 35 year-old woman who complained was using the women’s restroom, single stall, when she heard the men’s restroom door open next her. The men and women’s restrooms have separate entrances but share a common wall.

A few moments later, she looked up and saw a cell phone, camera side facing her, on top of the wall’s divider. A short time after she exited the restroom, Lara left the men’s restroom with the cell phone. The woman’s boyfriend confronted Lara who admitted to recording her.

Deputies said it is likely there are more victims. If anyone has information on this crime or is likely to be a victim of this crime, they are asked to call the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office at (727) 582-6200.
