Largo Police Investigate Home Invasion

The victim is a pregnant woman, according to Largo police.

LARGO – Police here said they are investigating a home invasion during which a man broke into a home and slashed a woman.

Largo police did not release her name but said she is 23 weeks pregnant. She was taken to Morton Plant Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Her father, who also confronted the suspect, was not injured.

Officers said they were called to the house this morning (Feb. 21) for a home invasion. When they arrived, they found a woman who had cuts to her hands and face. She told police she woke up to a noise coming from the bathroom area of the residence at about 6:15 a.m. She told officers she saw the silhouette of a male in the bathroom. Officers said she was running toward the kitchen when the man grabbed her from behind and threw her to the ground. He got a knife, police said, and began to slash at her head and neck.The woman was able to protect her neck with her hands and arms.

Her father heard the struggle and came to her rescue by jumping on the suspect’s back. Police said the man was able to break away from the father and hit the victim in the face with his fists before leaving the house.
