Her estranged husband has been taken to the hospital with what Hillsborough Sheriff David Gee says appears to be a self-inflicted knife wound to his neck.

RUSKIN – A woman who deputies say was kidnapped by her estranged husband was found this morning (March 13) at a Ruskin resort.

Alisa Summers, 37, who has been missing since Saturday (March 11), had what appears to be a knife wound to one of her wrists, according to Hillsborough County Sheriff David Gee. It is unclear, he said, if she has any other injuries. Gee described her as being “very upset.”

Her estranged husband, Trevor Steven Summers, 39, of 11737 Newberry Grove Loop in Riverview, has been taken to a hospital for treatment of a knife wound to his neck. Gee said the wound appears to be self-inflicted but not life threatening.

“The wound on him appeared to be fairly fresh,” Gee said.

Gee said Summers will face charges of kidnapping, grand theft of Ms. Summers’ Saturn Outlook, and violation of a domestic violence injunction. Other charges may follow after deputies interview Ms. Summers.

Complete details on the events of the past few days will not be available until deputies finish interviewing Ms. Summers. But, according to Gee, Summers apparently convinced one of the couples’ five children – a 14 year old – to leave a window open in Ms. Summers’ Valrico home so he could enter. He apparently did so late Friday or early Saturday. He allegedly told the 14 year old to take a car and wait in the area. The 14 year old took a couple of the other children with her.

About 5:30 a.m., Gee said, Summers told the 14 year old to take the other children and drive his car to his home in Riverview. She did so and waited there with the other four children throughout Saturday.

That night Summers used her car to take her away from her home. At about 9:05 p.m., he took Ms. Summers to a Walgreens at 5605 Fishhawk Crossing Blvd. in Lithia where, Gee said, Ms. Summers tried to get out of the car. Summers forced her back inside, the sheriff said. A witness saw the incident and called law enforcement and provided them with the license plate number and a description of Ms. Summers’ vehicle.

That was the last anyone saw of the couple until this morning when a witness called deputies and said he saw Ms. Summers’ SUV parked at the Inn at Little Harbor resort in Ruskin. The SUV left and the witness was able to direct deputies to its location at a nearby house. Gee said he does not believe the two were at the resort the entire time.

Deputies converged on the SUV. Gee said Ms. Summers, who was in the back seat, got out. Summers, who was in the front seat, did not.

Gee praised the witnesses at the Walgreens and at the Inn at Little Harbor, saying, it was a “great job by a very attentive public.”
