He died Monday (May 13) from injuries received in the April 18 crash, FHP troopers said.

PINELLAS COUNTY – A St. Petersburg man died Monday (May 13) of injuries he suffered a month when he was hit while crossing Ulmerton Road, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Kevin Casey Mullins, 36, of St. Petersburg, died at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg where he was taken after the April 18 crash.

The driver, Shayla Yvonne Collins, 26, of Tampa, was arrested April 18 and charged with one count each of Leaving the Scene of a Crash Involving Injury and DUI Causing Serious Bodily Injury. It is unclear if the charges against Collins will be affected by Mr. Mullins’ death. Troopers said they are continuing to investigate the crash.

The crash happened about  5:28 p.m. at the intersection of Ulmerton Road and 49th Street N in Pinellas County.

Troopers said Collins was driving a 2014 Kia Soul south on 49th Street when she turned east onto Ulmerton and hit Mr. Mullins. Collins then fled the scene but, troopers said, she was found a short distance away.
