Hillsborough Teacher Accused of Stealing from Another Teacher

She took her colleague’s wallet and used her credit card, according to the Hillsborough Sheriff’s Office.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A teacher has been arrested and accused of stealing a fellow teacher’s wallet, the Hillsborough Sheriff’s Office said.

Sylvia Clark, 58, of Tampa, was charged with one count each of grand theft and fraudulent use of a credit card. Both teach at Hammond Elementary School in Odessa.

Deputies said the theft happened about 3 p.m. Sept. 5. The other teacher was sitting outside the school watching her pupils during recess. Deputies said Clark was sitting at the same table.

The other teacher put her purse and lunchbox on the table while she went to help a pupil. Deputies said Clark took the other teacher’s wallet with contents valued at more than $340.

About 5:03 p.m. that same day, the other teacher’s credit card was used at a Publix at 15151 Dale Mabry Highway. Deputies said Clark was captured on video surveillance and positively identified as the person who used the credit card.
