Hillsborough Sheriff Accuses Wife of Murder

Her husband died Christmas Eve of a gunshot, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.

APOLLO BEACH – An Apollo Beach woman was arrested Tuesday (Dec. 27) and accused of murdering her husband, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Sherill Singleton, 42, of 517 Flame Tree Drive in Apollo Beach, was charged with first degree murder.

Deputies and Hillsborough Fire Rescue were called to the Singleton residence about 9:05 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 24) for an unresponsive white man. When paramedics arrived, they found Shawn Singleton, 47, dead on the floor of the residence. Deputies said he had suffered a gunshot wound to the upper torso. Deputies said Mrs. Singleton said she discovered her husband on the floor when she returned from a walk.

An autopsy and information gathered during the investigation indicated that Mr. Singleton had been murdered, deputies said. They arrested Mrs. Singleon on Tuesday evening.
