This is his third arrest for domestic violence, Hillsborough deputies said.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Hillsborough fire lieutenant has been arrested for the third time in connection with accusations of domestic violence, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.

Daniel Lewis Reed was charged with one count each of Battery-Domestic Violence and Domestic Battery by Strangulation (Felony). Deputies said he was arrested and charged with domestic violence in 2012 and 2014. He is a lieutenant with Hillsborough County Fire Rescue.

Deputies said they were called Wednesday (Jan. 2) to a report of a domestic violence incident that had happened a few days before. When they arrived, deputies said they learned that, between Dec. 26 and Dec. 27, Reed and his live-in girlfriend had multiple arguments that turned physical.

Reed struck his girlfriend several times and choked her on two separate occasions, causing her to lose consciousness for an unknown amount of time, detectives said.
