Hillsborough Detention Deputy Accused of Molesting Child

He is accused of inappropriately touching a 6- to 7-year-old child, according to the Hillsborough Sheriff’s Office.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A detention deputy has been accused of inappropriately touching a sleeping child, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.

Adam E. Camara, 39, is charged with one count of lewd or lascivious molestation. Camara has worked for the Hillsborough sheriff since 2003. He was assigned to Jail Division 2 at the Falkenburg Road Jail. He has been placed on unpaid administrative leave.

Deputies began their investigation into allegations of lewd and lascivious touching on Tuesday (Sept. 26). The incident happened in 2006. Camara entered the bedroom where the victim, who was 6 to 7 years old, was sleeping in a prone position. Deputies said Camara used his hand and intentionally touched the victim’s buttocks in a lewd and lascivious manner.

During the investigation, Camara made incriminating statements that deputies heard. The statements backed up the victim’s statement. Deputies said Camara lived with the victim and witnesses at the time of the incident.
