The five came from addresses less than half a block away from each other in the same Brooksville neighborhood.

BROOKSVILLE – Two women and three men were arrested Friday (Feb. 24) after a lengthy undercover drug sting, the Hernando Sheriff’s Office said.

Four of the arrests were made at 9033 Parrish Ave. The fifth was made at 20030 Peyton Place in the same Brooksville neighborhood, deputies said.

Arrested at Parrish Avenue:

Vanessa Billingsly, 29, was charged with sale of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, unlawful use of a two-way communication device, possession of a structure for the purpose of selling methamphetamine, possession of MDMA, possession of morphine, possession of alprazolam and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Jerry Parker, 49, was charged with possession of ammunition by a convicted felon.

Brandy Parker, 39, was charged with trafficking in methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

John Hazelton, 51, was charged with possession of ammunition by convicted felon, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Also charged was Brian Wendler, 42, who was at the Peyton Place address. Wendler was charged with sale of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful use of a two-way communication device.

Deputies said the arrests were a result of a lengthy investigation that took place at both the Parrish Avenue and Peyton Place locations. During the investigation, undercover detectives took part in narcotics transactions during which Billingsly sold methamphetamine on numerous occasions from the Parrish Avenue residence. Deputies said they also took part in transactions on the Peyton Place property during which Wendler sold methamphetamine. Deputies said they found 70 grams of liquid methamphetamine, 17 grams of crystal methamphetamine, MDMA pills, morphine and paraphernalia indicative of narcotics sales and use.

When the SWAT team entered the Parrish Avenue house, a pit bull dog ran out from a bedroom and charged one of the deputies. While one SWAT team member was being attacked by the dog,
another shot it. With the dog still acting in an aggressive manner, deputies said SWAT team members also used pepper spray to subdue the animal. It had no effect although seconds later, the dog appeared to go into shock so that it was no longer a threat to deputies.

The dog was given first aid on the scene, deputies said, and then promptly taken by an HCSO animal enforcement officer to a local emergency veterinarian for care. Once at the facility, the veterinarian determined the dog would require surgery. At that time, deputies said the dog’s owner decided to have the dog euthanized.
