Hernando Deputies Say Paraprofessional Had Gun on School Property

He told deputies he had a .380 caliber pistol in his vehicle, the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office said.

BROOKSVILLE – A Brooksville man is accused of having a gun on the Central High School campus, according to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.

Ronald Earl Ralph Jr., 48, of Brooksville, was charged with one count of possession of a firearm on school grounds.

Operators in the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Communications Center received a text to 9-1-1 call about 1:03 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 4) concerning a possible firearm on the campus of Central High School, 14075 Ken Austin Parkway in Brooksville.

The School Resource Deputy was notified and patrol deputies were dispatched to the campus.

The person who texted 9-1-1 said that Ralph was the person who had the firearm. Deputies spoke with Ralph, a paraprofessional on the campus, who told them that he did have a .380 caliber pistol in the center
console of his vehicle.

With help from school administrators, deputies found the firearm in the center console of Ralph’s vehicle.
