A man was shot to death, Gulfport police said.

GULFPORT – Police here are investigating a shooting death, according to the Gulfport Police Department.

The name of the dead man has not been released. Police said he was 31 years old. He died at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg where he died of injuries from multiple gunshot wounds.

The shooting happened about 10:35 p.m. Tuesday (July 4) in the 2600 block of Miriam Street S. Police said they were called to the scene because of an armed person, however they are now investigating the case as a homicide.
