Data from an ankle monitor helped officers single out a suspect in the burglaries, the Gulfport Police Department said.

GULFPORT – A Gulfport teen is accused of committing 13 vehicle burglaries over three days, according to the Gulfport Police Department.

Benjamin Langkamp Jr., 18, of Gulfport, is charged with 13 counts of vehicle burglary.

Police said that, on three separate days between May 16 and May 24, there was a series of forced entry vehicle burglaries. There were 13 total vehicle burglaries reported during which each of the vehicles had windows smashed before entry.

All of the burglaries occurred within a 1 block radius in the area of 30th Avenue S to 31st Avenue S and Beach Boulevard S to 56th Street S. Because there were known offenders in that area, police detectives said they quickly had a suspect – Langkamp.

Langkamp is .court ordered to wear an ankle monitor and data from the monitor and other information allowed officers to arrest him. Police said Langkamp confessed to the burglaries.
