RUSKIN – A Ruskin couple were arrested after the woman rammed her boyfriend’s truck and chased him into the sheriff’s parking lot, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Diana Elizabeth Padilla, 25, of Ruskin, was charged with one count of aggravated battery of a person using a deadly weapon (vehicle), a felony. Jose Guadalupe Rodriguez, 42, of Ruskin, was charged with one count of operating a motor vehicle without a valid license, a misdemeanor.

About 4:35 p.m. Sunday (March 18), Hillsborough sheriff’s deputies received a report of two vehicles driving recklessly in the Sun City area. Within minutes, a deputy sitting in his vehicle in the District IV headquarters, 503 33rd St. SE in Ruskin, saw two trucks pull into the parking lot at a high rate of speed.

Rodriguez was in the lead truck and, deputies said, he yelled, “Help me, she is following me.”

Padilla, who was Rodriguez’s live-in girlfriend, jumped out of the second vehicle, a Dodge Dakota, and tried to get into Rodriguez’s GMC Sierra. Deputies said both trucks were damaged because Padilla struck Rodriguez in the door during her pursuit of him.

Rodriguez told deputies that the incident began earlier in the afternoon when Padilla became angry at him because she thought he was seeing another woman. Rodriguez told deputies he left their home in Ruskin and headed for the Sheriff’s Office thinking it would offer some protection. Padilla chased him and rammed her truck into his along the way.
