PASCO COUNTY – A Tampa man has been charged in a hit and run crash that left the other driver in serious condition, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Jamie A. Salgado, 23, of Hudson, was taken to Bayonet Point Hospital in serious condition.

Hector Leon, 43, of Tampa, was charged with leaving the scene of a crash with injury and failure to drive within a single lane.

The crash happened about 5:10 p.m. Tuesday (March 14) on State Road 52 east of Quail Ridge Road. Troopers said Leon was driving a 2006 Ford F150 east on SR-52 when he veered into the oncoming lane. The Ford collided with a 2016 Toyota Corolla driven by Salgado. The Corolla overturned, troopers said, and Leon fled on foot. It is unclear if alcohol was involved in the crash.
