FHP Accuses Brandon Man in Fatal 3-Car Crash

The man, who had been drinking, ran a red light, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Brandon man has been charged with vehicular homicide after a three-car crash that killed a Tampa man, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Johnathan Nicholas Honza, 28, of 325 Cindy Lane in Brandon, was charged with one count each of vehicular homicide, DUI manslaughter and driving without a valid drivers license/fatality.

Dontae Jamal Hill, 25, died at Tampa General Hospital on Wednesday (Jan. 4) of injuries he received in the crash. Honza had also been taken to Tampa General with serious injuries.

The crash happened about 3:23 a.m. at the intersection of Adamo Drive and Falkenburg Road. Troopers said Honza was driving a 2016 Chevrolet SS west on Adamo when he ran the traffic light at the intersection. Honza hit the driver’s side of a 2005 Acura TSX driven by Mr. Hill, the FHP said. Debris from the crash hit a 2013 Chevrolet Express driven by Paula D. Whitten, 37, of Tampa. No one in Whitten’s vehicle was injured.
