LARGO – A Largo man is accused of beating his 7-week-old daughter to death, according to the Largo Police Department.

Anthony Allen Suffoletto, 28, of Largo, was charged with one count each of First Degree Murder and Aggravated Child Abuse in connection with the death of Gianna Suffoletto.

Largo police were called to South Pines Drive on Feb. 28 to help Largo Fire Rescue with an unresponsive baby girl. Gianna was not conscious or breathing. She was immediately taken to Morton Plant Hospital and then to St Joseph’s Children’s Hospital in Tampa.

During the examination of the infant, it was found that she suffered blunt force trauma to the head, torso, and legs. Gianna died March 5 as a result of her injuries.

Autopsy results confirmed the infant was the victim of aggravated child abuse and her death was classified as a homicide, officers said.

The Hillsborough County Medical Examiner’s Office and Largo detectives said that, after a thorough investigation, they determined that the injuries were inflicted by her biological father, who was the only person with her at the time.
