This is the fourth time he has been accused of DUI in less than a year, according to the Hillsborough Sheriff’s Office.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Tampa man is accused of drinking and driving the wrong way, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Juan G. Velasco-Arcos, 29, of Tampa, was charged with one count each of driving over the influence, driving while his license was suspended or revoked, providing a false name to a law enforcement officer, open container and two counts of failure to appear. This is the fourth time Velasco-Arcos has been accused of DUI since October, deputies said.

Deputies said citizens saw a 2005 Chevrolet Colorado pick-up truck driving the wrong way (eastbound) in the westbound lanes of Fletcher Avenue from Nebraska Avenue about 6:45 a.m. Sunday (Sept. 3). The driver continued for about one mile until he crossed over the concrete median into the eastbound lanes near N 22nd Street.

Sgt Ryan Balseiro spotted the vehicle eastbound on Fletcher Avenue at the Hillsborough River and conducted a traffic stop.

Upon approaching the vehicle, Balseiro said he saw an open container of beer in the cup holder and several empty beer cans on the front passenger floorboard. A roadside field sobriety examination was conducted and as result, Velasco-Arcos was arrested and charged with DUI. Velasco-Arcos was transported to Central Breath Test where, deputies said, his blood alcohol content registered 0.198. In Florida, someone is presumed to be drunk if the blood alcohol content is above 0.08.
