Driver Charged with Vehicular Homicide in Motorcyclist’s Death

He was drunk when he ran a red light, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.

ST. PETERSBURG – A St. Petersburg man who hit and killed a motorcyclist was arrested Tuesday (June 26), the St. Petersburg Police Department said.

Dylan Charles Baron, 23, of St. Petersburg is charged with one count each of DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide in the death Saturday (June 23) of Michael P. Majchrowski.

Mr. Majchrowski, 48, who was driving a BMW motorcycle, was killed when he was hit by a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze driven by Baron. Police said Baron, who had been consuming alcohol, fell asleep while he was driving and ran the red light at Gandy Boulevard. (For related story, click here.)

Police said the investigation into the crash is still underway.
