Driver Charged with DUI Manslaughter in Death of Motorcyclist

He turned into the path of the oncoming motorcycle, FHP troopers said.

PASCO COUNTY – A Port Richey man has been accused of drunken driving after a crash that killed a motorcyclist, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Dustin Shawn Hogan, 31, of New Port Richey, died at the Regional Medical Center of Bayonet Point where he was taken after the crash.

Naserodin H. Shooshtari, 68, of Port Richey, was charged with one count each of DUI Manslaughter and Violation of Right of Way.

The crash happened about 5:15 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 18) at the intersection of Embassy Boulevard and Palm Avenue in Pasco County.

Troopers said Shooshtari was driving a 2005 Toyota Camry east on Embassy when he turned left onto Palm Avenue. The turn took him into the path of the 1997 Honda motorcycle that Mr. Hogan was driving west on Embassy.

The motorcycle hit the passenger side of the Toyota and Mr. Hogan was thrown from the bike He was wearing a helmet.
