Driver Accused of DUI After Hitting Deputy’s Car, Hillsborough Sheriff Says

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – An Orlando woman was accused of drunken driving after she crashed into a deputy who was stopped on Bearss Avenue, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.

The deputy was taken to Tampa General Hospital with minor injuries. A passenger inside another vehicle involved in the crash complained of injuries but declined medical help.

Sarah Elaine Polichetti, 22, of Orlando, was charged with one count each of DUI with Property Damage (over 0.15) and Driving Under the Influence (over 0.15).

The crash happened about 3:26 a.m. Friday (Dec. 7) on Bearss Avenue just west of Skipper Road in Hillsborough County.

Officials said Hillsborough sheriff’s Cpl. Rudolph was driving his marked 2018 Dodge Charger, when he saw a 1999 Toyota Corolla off to the side of the roadway on Bearss Avenue.

The driver was standing outside the car with a passenger sitting inside.

Rudolph went to help the woman by pulling behind her car and turning on his emergency lights. He was getting out of his car when it was hit from behind by the 2016 Volkwagon Jetta that Polichetti was driving.

Deputies said the conducted a DUI investigation and found that her breath test results were 0.159 and 0.167.
