Dog Shot in Tarpon Springs

The dog had to be euthanized because of its injuries, according to the Tarpon Springs Police Department.

TARPON SPRINGS – Police here are searching for the person who shot Radar, a 1-year-old German shepherd mixed breed dog.

Tarpon Springs police officers were called to an abandoned residence at 1117 Lake St. about 12:47 p.m. Friday (July 14) for a report about a dog that had possibly been hit by an unknown vehicle. The dog’s back was injured.

Officer Brittney Rose took the dog to Westlake Animal Hospital where veterinarians discovered that the dog had been shot. Later, the owner Bradley Wayne Grove Jr., who was identified because of the microchip transferred Radar to Palm Harbor Animal Hospital. Radar had to be euthanized because he had a severe spinal cord injury.

Radar had escaped from his fenced in backyard the night before.

There are no witnesses to this crime and no known suspects at this time. Anyone with information is asked to call the Tarpon Springs Police Department detective division at (727) 938-2849.
