Deputies: Oldsmar Man, 49, Sexually Battered Girl, 10
He formerly worked as a deputy with the Charles County Sheriff’s Office in Maryland, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
OLDSMAR – An Oldsmar man has been arrested in connection with the sexual battery of a 10-year-old girl, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.
Christopher Wayne Stufft, 49, of Oldsmar, is charged with one count of sexual battery (less than 12 years old). Deputies confirmed Stufft was a deputy for the Charles County Sheriff’s Office in Maryland from 2004 to 2009.
The incident happened about 12 a.m. Sunday (July 1). Deputies said Stufft was in a short term dating relationship with the mother of the 10-year-old girl. On the night of the incident, Stufft invited both the mother and the child to his home on Countryside Key Boulevard in Oldsmar for movies.
The girl was reported to have just fallen asleep on the couch next to her mother and Stufft. The child’s mother went outside to the back porch to smoke a cigarette. While the girl’s mother was outside, deputies said, Stufft molested the child and took explicit photographs of her with his cell phone.
The child told her mother of the incident. They Stufft’s residence and returned home to call deputies.
Detectives said Stufft admitted to having the mother and her child over to his home to watch movies but he denied inappropriately touching the child. Deputies said they were able to determine that the incident “did, in fact, take place.”
