The U-Haul had no air conditioning and the caged cats were in their own feces, according to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.

HOLIDAY – A Holiday woman was arrested Saturday after more than 40 cats and a dog were found locked in an non-air-conditioned U-Haul with no food or water, the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office said.

Karen Tuttle-Kunnmann, 61, of Holiday, was charged with 47 counts of animal cruelty.

Deputies said they went to Tuttle-Kunnmann’s home after receiving complaints from neighbors. They found a U-Haul truck with 37 cats inside the storage compartment, secured with a lock.

The cats were caged without food or water, no air conditioning, and sitting in their own feces. Cats were found under furniture and were also in cages stacked to the roof of the truck. Additional cats and a dog were found in the cab of the Uhaul and in another vehicle that was locked with no air conditioning on.

Deputies helped unload the cats, which are in the care of Pasco County Animal Control.
