The teen and his passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries. No one else was injured, Pinellas deputies said.

CLEARWATER – A 16-year-old Clearwater boy was arrested after he stole a car and crashed it into a home, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

Kaleb John Kelly Wagner, 16, of Clearwater, was charged with one count each of Grand Theft Auto, Leaving the Scene of a Crash with Injury, and Violation of Probation. Deputies said Wagner was already on felony probation for Grand Theft Auto and was being monitored by the Habitual Offender Monitoring Enforcement program, a task force aimed at reducing teen crime.

Deputies said Wagner had his GPS ankle monitor removed about 5 p.m. on Thursday (March 7) after he completed his graduating sanction period of 30-days set forth by the court.

Wagner and his 13-year-old passenger were both taken to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Wagner will be taken to the Pinellas Juvenile Assessment Center after his release from the hospital. No one else was injured.

The passenger has not been charged.

At about 11:35 p.m. Thursday (March 7), deputies said they were called to a residence on Eastfield Drive in the unincorporated Clearwater area for a car that crashed into a private residence.

When deputies arrived, witnesses told  them that multiple juveniles fled the scene on foot after someone crashed a 2015 Kia Soul into the garage area of the occupied home.

Deputies from the K-9 Unit and the Flight Unit tracked the suspects.

Deputies said they caught Wagner and his passenger near the crash site.

Wagner had stolen a family member’s Kia and was driving it on Eastfield Drive when he lost control of the car, deputies said. The car left the roadway and crashed into a mailbox and a parked car before crashing into the home causing significant property damage.
