Deputies: Clearwater Man Sexually Battered Teen, 17
He knew the 17-year-old boy, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
PINELLAS COUNTY – A Clearwater man has been accused of forcing a 17-year-old boy into having sexual activity with him, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.
David West, 56, of Clearwater, was charged with one count each of sexual battery and possession of a controlled substance (cocaine). West owns D&D Auto Center at 1711 Overbrook Av. in Clearwater, deputies said.
The investigation began after the teen called 911 and reported he was picked up and sexually battered by West, who was an acquaintance of his.
Deputies said that, on Saturday (Feb. 10), West called the teen, picked him up and drove him back to West’s residence. While at the residence, West told the teen to take off all of his clothes and forced the boy into having sexual activity with him. After the incident, the teen called 911.
The teen told deputies that he first met West a few months ago when he inquired about purchasing a used car from him.
Deputies said they arrested West at the Sheriff’s Office North District Station in Dunedin. During the arrest, deputies said they found a baggie containing a white powdery substance in West’s pocket. West admitted that the substance was cocaine. A presumptive test confirmed that.
