Deputies Catch Bank Robber in the Act, Hillsborough Sheriff Says

Deputies arrived less than two minutes after a bank teller called for help, Hillsborough deputies said.

TAMPA – Deputies captured a Tampa man in the act of robbing a bank, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.

Emmanual Nyamekye Adonteng Jr., 23, of Tampa, is charged with one count of robbery, a felony.

Deputies said Adonteng entered a Chase Bank in the University Area around 1 p.m. Monday (Oct. 1) and handed a written demand for cash to a bank teller. In his note, Adonteng said he was armed.

A bank teller called 911 for help at 1:05 p.m. Hillsborough Deputies arrived less than two minutes after the call and surprised the would-be robber. Adonteng was still inside the bank when deputies arrived and was arrested without incident. No one was hurt and no weapon was recovered.
