One Dead, One Seriously Injured in Tampa Shooting

The shooting was not random, Tampa police said.

TAMPA – Police here are are investigating a homicide after finding two men who had been shot Sunday (Oct. 1), the Tampa Police Department said.

DuVaughn A. Shaheed, 55, died of the wounds he received in the shooting. The other man, whose name was not available, was seriously injured.

The shooting happened about 1:51 a.m. at 1716 E 18th Ave. Officers said they arrived at the address to find two men on the ground who apparently had suffered gunshot wounds.

Mr. Shaheed’s car, a 2003 gold Ford Taurus, was missing immediately after the shooting, and may have been taken by the shooter(s), officers said. Police found the car Monday not far from where the shooting occurred.

The shooting does not appear to be random.
