Pinellas sheriff’s deputies are searching for a suspect.

ST. PETE BEACH – A man from Dallas, TX, was wounded early this morning (Oct. 28) when he was shot while walking in St. Pete Beach, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

Kurt Alan Lang, 51, was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with non-life threatening injuries. His injury appeared to be consistent with a small caliber round.

The shooting happened about 12:16 a.m. Lang was walking with his cousin on the sidewalk near the Beachcomber Resort, 6200 Gulf Blvd. when they heard what sounded like a firecracker. Lang grabbed his chest and said he thought he had just been shot. Lang walked over to the Beachcomber Resort and called 911.

Lang told deputies he saw a white vehicle driving at normal speeds at the time of the shooting.

Deputies said that, about an hour later, they received another call in the area of 6850 Beach Plaza about a possible white Chevy Impala with four people driving around with no head lights. The driver was partially out the window with a possible rifle, according to the person who called deputies.

This incident was called in approximately an hour after Lang had been shot. The caller said he saw the emergency vehicles and decided to make a late report to deputies.

Deputies are trying to identify a suspect.
