Clearwater Police: Wrong-Way Driver Charged with DUI

Clearwater police said he admitted to drinking before he got behind the wheel.

CLEARWATER – A Safety Harbor man has been charged with drunken driving after he drove the wrong way on McMullen Booth Road, the Clearwater Police Department said.

Frank Odice, 78, of Safety Harbor, was charged with one count of driving under the influence.

Police said they arrested him about 6:30 p.m. Friday (Nov. 23) on McMullen Booth Road near Eastland Boulevard. He was driving north in the southbound lanes. A police aide and several other motorists noticed the wrong-way driver, and the police aide was able to block traffic to prevent any potential collision.

Officers who arrived on scene said they noticed several signs of impairment from Odice,who admitted he had been drinking before getting behind the wheel of the car.
