Two Charged with Felony Murder in Home Invasion
The charge arose from a home invasion during which the homeowner shot and killed one of their co-conspirators, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.
HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A man and a woman have been charged with felony murder in connection with a home invasion during which one of their co-conspirators was shot and killed by the homeowner, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
Taylor Nicole Pritt, 20, and Vincent Luis Benitez, 20, both of Brandon, were each charged with one count each of second degree felony murder with a firearm and robbery/home invasion with a firearm.Deputies are searching for a third suspect, Ashley Causey, who, deputies said, was involved in the incident.
The charges arose out of the shooting death of Michael Caddo, 25, who was killed during a May 31 home invasion on Morris Bridge Road in northeast Hillsborough. The owner, who was inside the house, used a revolver to defend himself and killed Mr. Caddo during the home invasion. Because Mr. Caddo was killed during the comission of a felony criminal act that the suspects helped plan and participate in, they can be charged for felony murder, deputies said.
