The car, which was fleeing from a traffic stop, also hit two other vehicles and a traffic sign before rolling over, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

SEMINOLE – A St. Petersburg man running from a traffic stop crashed into two other vehicles before hitting a traffic sign, rolling over and becoming trapped in his car, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

Monte T. Dudley, 24, of 3620 14th Ave. S in St. Petersburg, was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg for serious, non-life threatening injuries. Deputies said he was charged with one count each of aggravated fleeing and eluding and driving while license suspended or revoked, a felony, and two counts of leaving the scene of a crash with property damage. He will be taken to the Pinellas County Jail after he is released from the hospital.

The drivers of the two vehicles he hit were unharmed. Deputies said that those cars, several trees, a mail box and an unoccupied vehicle were damaged as a result of the rollover crash.

The incident happened about 8:30 a.m. Thursday in the unincorporated Seminole area. A Pinellas deputy was traveling southbound on 113th Street N approaching the intersection of 102nd Avenue when he ran the vehicle tag on a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro that was traveling in the same direction. Records from the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles indicated that the tag on the Camaro was a dealer tag that was replaced.

The deputy pulled in behind the Camaro and activated his emergency lights and siren to get the car to stop. Deputies said the Camaro pulled off to the right southbound curb lane of 113th Street N at the 102nd Avenue intersection. On a red traffic light, the Camaro made a “sudden evasive maneuver,” abruptly turning southeast through the red traffic light and into the intersection. The deputy did not pursue the Camaro.

Deputies said the Camaro hit a 2015 Ford Fiesta that was in the intersection traveling westbound on 102nd. The Fiesta had a green light. Deputies said the Camaro then struck a 2004 Dodge Durango in the intersection that had been traveling eastbound on 102nd. It also had a green light.

After colliding with two vehicles in the intersection, the Camaro continued at a high rate of speed, eastbound on 102nd. The Camaro continued driving erratically and passed two deputies who had just finished with an unrelated traffic stop on 102nd Avenue N. Deputies did not pursue the Camaro.

As the Camaro approached the intersection of 109th Avenue N, deputies said it hit a traffic sign on the south side of the roadway. The Camaro swerved into the grass and the vehicle rolled over.

Deputies said the Camaro rolled over six to seven times traveling in an eastbound direction along the south side of 102nd.. The Camaro rolled through the front yards of three residences located at 10882 102nd Ave. N, 10862 102nd Ave. N, and 10842 102nd Ave. N. The Camaro came to final rest against a large tree at 10842 102nd Ave. N, deputies said.

Deputies rendered aid to Dudley who was trapped inside the vehicle. Dudley was extricated by rescue crews and taken to the hospital.
