He had not paid child support, Hernando deputies said.

BROOKSVILLE – A Brooksville man who said he was wounded in a drive-by shooting was arrested when deputies found he had not paid child support, the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office said.

Xavier Jamar Langley, 26, of Brooksville,  a registered felon, was arrested on an active Writ of Bodily Attachment for unpaid child support. He was arrested after being treated and released for his gunshot wounds.

Deputies said that, at about 10:42 p.m. Friday (May 3), 911 dispatchers received a call from Oak Hill Hospital personnel about a man who had arrived at the emergency room with non-life threatening gunshot wounds.

Deputies went to the hospital and met with Langley who told them he was walking along Armstrong Street, in Brooksville, when he was shot by an unknown person driving by in a vehicle.

Langley said family members took him to the hospital. He denied knowing of anyone who would want to shoot him.
