He had his son in the car while he was driving under the influence, Pasco deputies said.

LUTZ – A Brandon man was arrested and accused of drunken driving while his 7-year-old son was in the car, the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office said.

Kelly Thomas Martin, 50, of Brandon, was charged with one count each of DUI and Child Neglect.

Deputies said Martin was pulled over Saturday (Jan. 26) because he not staying in one lane of traffic on State Road 54/Land O’ Lakes Boulevard in Lutz.

The deputy who stopped him said Martin had “glassy, watery, bloodshot eyes; slurred speech; and a very strong odor of an alcoholic beverage from from his breath, which grew stronger as he spoke.” He was unable to perform sobriety tests that the deputy asked him to do. After his arrest, he provided a two-breath sample, which showed 0.254 and 0.265.

Deputies said his son, 7, was in the vehicle with him.
