The two got into a fight on campus, but did not display them during the altercation, officers said.

TAMPA – Two students were accused of having weapons on the Blake High School campus, according to the Tampa Police Department.

Charges of possession of a firearm on school grounds, theft of a firearm, and violation of probation were pending against Ja’Mase Ringgold, 17, late Wednesday, police said.  A charge of possession of a knife on school grounds was pending against Desmond Sheppard, 18.

Officers said the two were involved in a fight on campus shortly after 11 a.m. Wednesday (April 12). The assistant principal intervened and took Ringgold and Sheppard to the main office where the school resource officer searched them and found one had a gun and the other had a knife. The weapons were not used or brandished during the fight, officers said.

Blake High was placed on lock down during the event. The principal notified parents and family of the situation.

Tampa police detectives took both teens into custody and said they were being interviewed late Wednesday with charges pending.
