Bicyclist Injured in Hillsborough Hit and Run

The Hillsborough sheriff is looking for information about the driver who hit the bicyclist.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Dover bicyclist was seriously injured Thursday (June 23) night when he was hit by an unknown driver, according to the Hillsborough Sheriff’s Office.

Alvin Chapparo, 51, of Dover, was riding his bicycle northbound on Gallagher Road about 9:25 p.m. when he was hit by a 2000-2002 Chevrolet Cavalier, deputies said. The impact threw Chapparo onto the east, grassy shoulder. He was flown to Tampa General Hospital where he is listed in serious, but stable condition.

Anyone with any information reference the driver of the Chevrolet Cavalier is asked to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office at (813) 247-8200 or anyone with any information regarding the identity and whereabouts of the driver and who wants to be eligible for a cash reward is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS (8477), report anonymously online at crimestopperstb.com or send a mobile tip using the department’s P3 Tips Mobile application, which is a free download for iPhones, iPads and Droids. You must call Crime Stoppers first to be eligible for a reward.
