The burglary charges were enhanced because it happened during Hurricane Irma, which had been declared a state of emergency, according to the Pinellas sheriff.

PINELLAS COUNTY – Three Clearwater men have been accused of stealing from a St. Petersburg pawn shop during Hurricane Irma, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

James Ruttencutter, 31, Tyler Harris,18, and Kevin Guthrie, 21, all of Clearwater, were charged with one count each of armed burglary. The charges were enhanced because the burglary happened during Hurricane Irma, which had been declared as a state of emergency.

Deputies were called to the Pawn Depot 2, 5198 34th St. N in St.Petersburg, about 7 a.m. Sept. 11. Deputies said three men entered the store sometime between 9 p.m. Sept. 10 and 1 a.m. Sept. 11. Once inside, they stole two firearms along with numerous pieces of jewelry and some electronics.

Deputies said they identified the men as Ruttencutter, Harris, and Guthrie. Deputies arrested the three Thursday (Oct. 5) and recovered everything except the firearms, which had been sold on the street.
