. . . Quick notes from around St. Petersburg.

• Wander through History: The St. Petersburg Museum of History holds its holiday open house on Tuesday (Dec. 20) 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Cocktails and appetizers will be provided by Hops and Props, the restaurant adjacent the museum. The event is for members only and RSVPs are requested by Sunday (Dec. 18). The museum is at 335 Second Ave. NE. Call (727) 894-1052.
• Greetings from USFSP: Here’s a quick and cute holiday greeting from the University of South Florida St. Petersburg. It’s kind of a day in the life of the campus. youtube.com
• A Community Leader’s Papers Preserved: Special Collections curator Jim Schnur has announced that Special Collections and University Archives of the Poynter Library at USFSP has acquired the Papers of Robert T. Pittman, longtime editor of editorials for the former St. Petersburg Times, now Tampa Bay Times. Bob Pittman came to the Times in 1963, becoming editor of editorials the following year, and continuing in that capacity until his retirement in 1991. Schnur reported that the collection came to the Poynter Library  by way of Dr. MaryAnn Pittman, one of his daughters, and through the good work of Helen Levine and others who kept close connections with the family. Mr. Pittman passed away in March 2015.
• Ships Ahoy: Two new ships, a 128-foot luxury yacht Sir Winston and the tall ship Lynx, have made downtown St. Petersburg their home. The Sir Winston is docked at the Port, while the Lynx is docked at the Harborage Marina. The Lynx is hoping to move into the North Yacht Basin for increased visibility. Moving to the North Yacht Basin would require some upgrades be made to the facilities. Current and future St. Petersburg companies EMP, Accmar, and Marinetek are anticipated to participate in the project. The decision to relocate would need approval from City Council and Army Corps of Engineers.
• Guide South St. Pete Redevelopment: Applications are now being accepted for one appointment to the Citizen Advisory Committee for the South St. Petersburg Community Redevelopment Area. Applicants must be residents, business and/or property owners or other stakeholders from within the South St. Petersburg Community Redevelopment Area. Applications must be received no later than the close of business on Monday (Dec. 19). visit pinellascounty.org. The County Commission will review all applications and make its selection at a future meeting. The term for this appointment will expire on Jan. 18, 2018.
