DOVER – A new teen center opened today (June 14) at the Dover Boys & Girls Club.

Classroom and utility upgrades and the teen center are all part of a revitalization of the club to help more children grow up to be successful adults. Renovations to the 37-year-old club were done with financial help from Jennifer Steinbrenner Swindal and the New York Yankees Foundation and sweat equity from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office and the Hillsborough County Parks and Recreation Department.

The teen center is named after HCSO Chief Deputy Jose M. Docobo, who has been instrumental in a years-long project to partner with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay. The center includes table games, computers and other activities. The Sheriff’s Office spent months renovating the building, which is separated from the original club by a basketball court and sports field. the club is at 2574 Gallagher Road in Dover.
